Good morning from the Cominco Arena in Trail

An early wake-up call for everyone at the Red Mountain Ski Resort in Rossland. I say this as the teams opponent this morning, the Brooks Bandits, stayed at the same resort.

The Kings were up and on the bus for 7:15 for an extra early pre-game meal at the Birchbank Golf & Country Club. The course was looking magnificent, very green and pristine.

Turning to this morning's game, one team will finally collect their first and only win of the weekend and well, the other has a long and quiet ride home.

Starting with Brooks, the Bandits are winless and have been outscored 12-4. They opened the tournament with a 6-2 loss to Trail and followed that up by losing to Penticton by the very same score. By going with what I'm told, the Bandits are a young team that has rebuilt from last year's AJHL campaign.

One jersey note, the Bandits starting goaltender, Jan Obernesser, wears his goalie pants low, EXTREMELY low. As in he could be in a Jay-Z music video.

The Kings have also seen their struggles over the past 48 hours. Last night's 4-2 defeat to host Trail has raised some eyebrows. In particular, the line-up iced last night was pretty close to what you could very well see on Friday versus Alberni Valley.

Kent Lewis and his coaching staff are waiting to see when this group of young men will come together as a team. We haven't seen that grit and toughness that is a staple of Kent Lewis coached teams. On the other hand,  you do have to remember this team has only played three exhibition games thus far. That is far fewer then the majority of teams in the BCHL, the Express have played over five!

Expect to see a hungry, angry hockey team this morning.

Line-ups coming soon...
