Kings on a Roll; Weekend Recap

The Kings finished off their weekend in convincing fashion on Saturday night.

Matt Garbowsky and Craig Dalrymple each scored twice, each in the first and third periods and Sean Maguire made 31 saves in a 4-0 win over Nanaimo.

Garbowsky was terrific again on Saturday being a thorn in the oppositions side all night long. With the two tallies and four on the weekend, Garbowsky takes over the team scoring lead with 13. I would argue the 20 year-old is one of the top centre's in the BCHL. I would be hard pressed to think of another centre who is better in both zones.

Dalrymple's two goals gives him 5 on the year which now leads Kings defensemen. Last night the Kippen, Ontario product was terrific not just offensively but in his own end as well. You can see him becoming one of the top rear guards in this league. It won't be long before we see him sign off on an NCAA scholarship.

Maguire what can you say? The rookie and local boy was terrific for the second straight start. You look at the boxscore and see 31 shots but a bunch of them came late in the game on extended power-play time for Nanaimo. However, I'm not taking anything away from Maguire who had excellent rebound control and positioning. Not to mention how well he played the puck all night.

The team from top to bottom played a very well executed game. They realized their opposition was short staffed and continually rolled four lines that wore down the Clippers as the game went on. Every one the Kings is drinking the same cool-aid and it's starting to show on the ice.

The team now has a seven point lead a top of the Coast standings and won't be back in action until Friday when they host Alberni Valley.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
