Eagles fly high against the Kings

*Note the road teams won all 7 games in the BCHL on Friday. I've never seen that this season.

- Surrey scored four goals on nine shots in the first period against Powell River. That's the first time the Kings allowed four goals in a single period. Mike Garteig was replaced after the first period. His goals against went from 1.58 to 1.66 after just 20 minutes. However two of the four goals were off his defenseman. Even the best have nights off.

- The Eagles used an effective two man fore check that caused all sorts of problems for the Kings in their zone. The KIngs were pressured and guilty of careless turnovers, with one resulting in Surrey's fourth goal. It was something 'er haven't seen very much of but give credit to the Eagles on a strong fore check.

- Players you hate to play against but love to have. That's how I would describe Tyler and Brandon Morley. Tyler had the second and third goals for the Eagles. Brandon chipped I. With a pair of assists and was a physical presence. They're small in stature but big when it counts.

- With Matt Garbowsky and Cohen Adair out, first and second in goal scoring, players needed to step up offensively. Chad Niddery answered the bell but after that it seemed like it fell on deaf ears. Niddery scored twice, and was a factor in one other that cut the deficit to one in the second. However the team fell flat after that though. Others need to step up tomorrow.

- All ten goals were scored even strength surprisingly enough. The Kings kept Surrey off thr score board on the power-play. Powell River scored once on five chances, and continued to show signs of improvement. The PP as climbed to 8th and shows no signs of slowing down. However that was one of only a few positives.

- Cole Thomson earned rave reviews on the broadcast. the AP 19 year-old forward worked his way to more minutes as the game wore on. He laid body, was aggressive on the Eagles D and created scoring chances. In my opinion he has earned another start.

- That was only the 4th regulation loss on home ice for the Kings. A weird fact all four losses came against two teams. One of which is Surrey.
