Kings vs Grizzlies in Round 2

The Kings have known for two weeks that they will begin their 2011 BCHL Playoffs on Tuesday, March 8 in Powell River.  It is now official that they will be facing off against the Victoria Grizzlies after the Grizz defeated the Nanaimo Clippers 4-1 in their best of seven Coastal Conference quarterfinal series.  The Grizzlies won the deciding 5th game last night 3-2 on home ice to close out the series.

I will have more on the upcoming series in the next couple of days.

The Grizzlies were without some of their top players throughout the series versus the Clippers and I'm sure they are happy to have a few days off to heal some injuries.

These two teams last met in the playoffs in 2009 when the Kings took the decisive game seven at Bear Mountain Arena to claim the Coastal Conference Championship.  The Kings lost to the eventual RBC Cup Champion Vernon Vipers in 6 games in the Fred Page Cup.  The Grizzlies hosted the RBC Cup and lost in the semi final to the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL.

The Kings have three players who played in the 2009 series; Chad Niddery, Jason Yee and Andrew Pettitt.  The Grizzlies have two; Madison Dias and Sean Robertson.

This should be a great series.
