SEASON SERIES: The Kings make their second visit to the "big stick" in Duncan and their first since November 13th. The Capitals won that game in double overtime 5-4. The last time these two teams met, 13 goals were scored in four periods as the Kings erased a two goal third period deficit to win 7-6 in overtime on Jan 28th.
TEAM SCOPE
CAPITALS: Cowichan Valley is coming off a 4-1 loss to Nanaimo at home on Friday Night. The Clippers staked themselves out to a 2-1 lead after two periods and added two more in the third from Ryan Stanimir and Kyle Kramer. Tyler Matheson was the only Capital to score, that coming in the second period.
The Capitals have now lost three of their last four games and are two points behind Coquitlam with one game played too many in the pursuit of the 7th and final playoff spot in the Coastal Conference.
KINGS: The Kings had their six game winning streak snapped last night at home to Surrey. The Eagles finished with two wins in three games at the Hap Parker Arena.
The Kings will get a boast up front with the return of Matt Garbowsky to the line-up. Garbowsky has missed the last two games with a lower body injury. The teams leading goal scorer will provide some much needed pop to the power-play and penalty-kill.
However, Powell River will be without Teagan Waugh, Cohen Adair, Dan Schuler Justin Bardarson and now Jon Jutzi, who is nursing a nagging injury. The Kings will have a few holes to fill tonight against the Caps'.
WHO'S HOT: Matt Garbowsky was riding a five game goal streak and six game point streak before he was side lined with an injury, let's see if he can pick up where he left off one week ago. Even though he doesn't have goal to his name, Jason Yee has collected four assists in the last five games. Andrew Pettitt has two goals and two helpers in five games as well. Chad Niddery looks to extend his points streak to seven games tonight.
Jordan Grant has four goals and seven points in the Capitals last five games. His line mate, Tyler Matheson is almost at par with Grant. Matheson has one goal and six points in his last five games.
INJURY REPORT: Cohen Adair, Teagan Waugh, Dan Schuler, Justin Bardarson and Jon Jutzi all did not make the trip for the Kings. Mitch Ball will wear sweater number 23 tonight in an AP role. Ball plays for the VIJHL Comox Valley Glacier Kings.
STAT PACK: The Kings are only 2-7-0-0 when they trail after two periods of play. Suffice to say they can't let that happen again tonight.
