KINGS-WARRIORS PREVIEW

KINGS (33-6-3-2) AT WARRIORS (24-16-3-2)

LAST 10: Powell River 9-1-0-0; Westside 6-4-0-0

Season Series: This is the second and final meeting between the Kings and Warriors. These two non conference opponents first met on October 3rd in Powell River with the Kings skating away to a 3-1 victory. Last season, the Kings split the two games with Westside. The Kings won at Royal Lapage Place 5-2. However the Warriors got the better of the Kings in Powell River 1-0.

Previous Game

Kings: Powell River gutted out a 4-2 win against the Grizzlies at Bear Mountain Arena on Saturday. Chad Niddery lead the way collecting a hat-trick. Mike Sones scored the game winning goal early in the third for his seventh of the season. Scott Renner threaded the needle on a rink wide pass from the neutral zone to set up the play. Mike Garteig faced 20 shots and stopped 18, including 13 in the third period to preserve the win.

Warriors: Westside saw a two goal first period lead evaporate as the Merritt Cenntenials blitzed the Warriors for four second perid goals in a 6-2 win on Saturday. The Warriors did a complete 180 as the previous night they thumped the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 6-1. So far 2011 has been up and down for the Warriors as they have alternated wins and losses in the four games they played.

Big Story: The Kings will be facing four of the top five teams in the Interior Conference. Westside is the lowest seeded team, however are eight games over the 500 mark and have 53 points on the season. That winning percentage would be fourth best if they played in the Coastal Conference. This road trip will provide stiff competition for Powell River as the four teams will be looking to prove they can knock off the BCHL's number one ranked team.

Injury Report: Brenden Forbes will be a game time decision for the Kings after suffering a upper body injury in Friday's game day skate. The Kings have a relatively healthy line up for one of the first times all season.

Who's Hot: Chad Niddery has scored five goals in two games, including a hat-trick on Saturday. Niddery has gone from 13 to 18 goals in a matter of five periods. Matt Garbowsky has four points in two games
(1-3-4) and seven goals in his last seven games. Cohen Adair has collected seven points in five games
(3-4-7) including a two goal outburst on Friday. Westside's Grayson Downing collected a hat trick on Friday against Salmon Arm. Alex Grieve has three points in two games (1-2-3). Matt Maher set up three goals in Friday's win...Quin Gould was the lone bright spot in Saturday's loss to Merritt. Gould collected a goal and one assist.

Stat Pack:  The Kings are 9-1-0-0 against the Interior Conference this season. The power-play is heating up for Powell River as they've scored a PPG in nine straight games. How's this for a hot streak? The Kings are 14-1-0-0 in their last 15.

Puck Drop: Westside native, Scott Renner will be my intermission guest. The 18 year-old lives less then a minute away from Royal LaPage Place.
